ACAD Apprentice of the Year

Taylor Smith is ACAD’s Apprentice of the Year 2017!

The 20 year old, who works for Gowrie Contracts, was selected by the ACAD training team, based on his attitude and skills whilst completing his training in Darlington.

“Taylor is a good team player, mature and keen to learn,” explains Assessor and Trainer, Gary MacKnight (pictured left with Taylor). “Despite having no previous industry experience, he has really impressed us with his attitude and ability to pick up skills and techniques really quickly.”

“We were absolutely delighted that Taylor was recognised by ACAD for this award as he has always given 100% to his work and is keen on developing his skills. It is also justification of Gowrie’s commitment to the apprenticeship scheme.

For far too long training within in the industry has been used as a tool for removal without further career development, but now new recruits can look forward to a recognised qualification.

The skills he has developed through this course have made Taylor a valuable member of our team,” says Company Director, Martin Henderson.

“We are really proud of Taylor, and delighted ACAD have recognised his abilities and potential.”
