About Stuart Pearce…
The former England football player, manager of England U21s (2007 – 2013), GB Olympic team manager (2102) and England team manager prior to Roy Hodgson’s appointment, originally trained as an electrician.
His football career started with non-league Wealdstone, but took off under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest in the mid 1980s.
He spent the next 12 years at the City Ground, taking the club captaincy in 1987, the year of his England debut against Brazil. His never-say-die approach immediately endeared him to the nation – a feeling which remained throughout World Cup and EURO competitions of the 1990s. Stuart was recalled to the England team under Kevin Keegan, the last of his 78 caps came against Poland in 1999, aged 37.
Stuart is currently a presenter on Talk Sport.
